16 burnt to death, properties worth N21m destroyed in Kano fire tragedies

Sixteen people have been burnt to death and properties worth N21 million destroyed in fire incidents in Kano, Northwest Nigeria.

This was disclosed by the spokesman, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi on Tuesday.

According to him, the Fire Service saved 92 lives and property worth N55 million in 60 fire incidents in May.

He disclosed that 16 lives were lost, while property worth N21 million were destroyed during the month.

“The service responded to 35 distress calls and seven false alarms from in May,’’ he stated.

Abdullahi advised the public to clear drainages as the rainy approaches to avoid flooding and other unforeseen circumstances.

In April 2023, NAN reports that 23 people were burnt to death in fire incidents, with 64 lives and property worth N73 million saved in 83 fire incidents recorded in the month.

Properties worth N29 million were destroyed by fire during the period under review.
