Rail operation on Kharagpur–Bankura–Adra line has been halted as two goods trains collided at Onda railway station in the Bankura district of West Bengal, India.

The incident which resulted in the derailment of several boggies, according to local media reports, occurred in the wee hours of Sunday.

Consequently, the South Eastern Railway cancelled 14 trains, diverted 3 and short-terminated 2 trains.

One person was injured and 12 wagons of the trains were derailed in the incident. No loss of life was reported.

A goods train reportedly entered the loop line instead of the main line and collided with another stationary goods train on the track.

The latest incident came three weeks after the devastating triple train collision involving two passenger trains and a goods train in the eastern state of Odisha in which about 300 people died.
