Just In: Kidnapped 8 MRS oil workers regain freedom in Lagos

The Police have confirmed release of eight workers of MRS Oil Nigeria plc, who were abducted while on a private boat in Lagos about a week ago.

They were abducted around 6pm last Monday while on a private boat from Lagos Island to Lekki.

According to report in The Nation newspaper, the eight oil workers were released on Sunday night at the Sangotedo area of Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the release of the oil workers who were taken away by the kidnappers who left behind their personal belongings.

Lagos Police Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the release of the MRS oil workers.

But he refused to say if any of the kidnappers of the oil workers were arrested.

The oil workers got missing from a boat they boarded on their way home last Monday at a jetty on the Island.

The boat was later found around Ikorodu, a suburb in Lagos State, leading to conclusion that they were abducted.

However, it was later revealed that the MRS oil workers were kidnapped by gunmen dressed in Army uniform on the on the Tin Can Waterways of Lagos State.

While confirming the abduction of the workers SP Hundeyin said: “The victims board- ed a boat at a jetty on the Island.

“They had not been seen since then, meanwhile, the boat was found around Ikorodu and manhunt has been launched for the suspected gunmen.”
