Igbo business mogul and Chancellor of Azman University, Kano, Prince Arthur Eze, on Sunday, donated the sum of N200 million to the management of the emerging private university, with a promise to galvanize his connections and resources towards ensuring that the new citadel of higher learning becomes one of its best in Africa.

Eze, who flew into Kano as the Special Guest of Honour during the inauguration of the Board of Trustees and Governing Council of the university, promised to support the development of the university.

Eze praised the founder for coming up with such initiative of establishing a world class university that will add value to the educational emancipation of Kano, northern Nigeria and Nigeria as a nation.

He recalled his long standing relationship with prominent figures in the North right from the days of the first civilian governor of Kano state, the late Abubakar Rimi.

He said, “since then, I developed a sound relationship with the North on a quality background with me supporting the region in one way or the other as I recently supported Boko Haram victims with N800 Million given to them.”

Speaking while inaugurating the Board of Trustees and the Governing Council of the University, the pro-chancellor of the University, Alhaji Abdulmanaf Yunusa Sarina, said the appointment of Arthur Eze as the Chancellor of the university came as a recognition of his support to educational development across Nigeria.

He further pledged that quality will be the watchword once the academic institution comes to full operation in the next few months.

According to him, “the journey of the establishment of the University started five years ago when I mulled the ambition of contributing my quota to education development of our teeming youths seeking for university.”

He said the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC), has already accorded him all the support and encouragement, in the journey of the establishment of the university.

He added that the institution would also provide means for awarding free education to indigent and vulnerable students who do not have the resources to pursue their education.

“Quality is our watchword at Azman University, we shall ensure that we require quality staff and academicians and equally breed quality students and education. All conditions and requirements set by NUC have been met, and therefore we are fully ready to kick-off,” he added.
