The Rivers Nigeria Labour Congress NLC and Trade Union Congress, Civil Society Organizations and National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, on Wednesday join the nationwide protest against the removal of fuel subsidy in Port-Harcourt.

Members of the state TUC, NLC and gathered at the Labour House, Igboukwu street, D/Line, Port Harcourt in compliance with the directives leaders of the unions where the protest took off.

The Labour leaders said they were protesting against in increase in the price of petrol, poverty and criminality, abandonment of local Refineries, and suspension of the increase of school fees at government owned institutions.

There was high presence of security agencies made up Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Diffence Corps, NSCDC, and Department of State Security, DSS, to ensure that there is no break down of law and order.

At the time of filing this report the protest has been peaceful as the protesters march towards Port Harcourt/Aba Expressway heading towards government House, in the Rivers State capital.
