The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun on Wednesday announced the expulsion of 84 of its members who are loyalists of the former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.
They were accused of engaging in anti-party activities.
This was confirmed via a statement by the Osun APC Chairman, Sooko Lawal.
The statement reads: “Following complaints of anti-party activities, the State Executive Committee of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) constituted a disciplinary committee to investigate the allegations against some members.
“This disciplinary measure came in response to the allegations of misconduct and actions that embarrassed and brought the party to disrepute.
“The disciplinary committee undertook a thorough and impartial review of the allegations and the findings were carefully deliberated upon by the State Executive Committee.
“After a comprehensive assessment of the evidence and consideration of the committee’s recommendations, the State Executive Committee has taken the difficult yet necessary step of expelling the following members:

The expulsion came after Aregbesola launched APC Omoluabi Caucus in Osun on August 22.
During the launching, Aregbesola argued that members of the caucus are the genuine foundation members of the APC in Osun.
The former governor of Osun also stated that the launch of the Omoluabi Caucus is to renew their path in progressive politics as inherited from Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Bola Ige, amongst other progressives who epitomise the Omoluabi ethos, noting that the loss of the party in the state can be traced to the departure from these progressive ideals.
