Eighteen-year-old Evan Ferguson scored a hat-trick on Saturday as Brighton thrashed Newcastle United 3-1 to move into the top four of the English Premier League.
It was Newcastle’s three successive defeats in the premier league this season. They defeated Aston Villa 5-1 in their opened league match, lost 1-0 to Manchester City and 2-3 to Liverpool at home and now 3-0 to Brighton away.
Ferguson opened scoring for Brighton on 27th minute. He was in the right place at the right time to get to the rebound inside the box and gleefully rifled the ball low into the middle of the net.
He got his second goal on 65th minute. Ferguson got to the ball and unleashed a strong shot from distance. It turned out to be a good decision as his effort found its way into the bottom right corner.
Five minutes later, Ferguson scored his hat-trick. He picked the ball up in space and from the edge of the box lashed in a shot that was deflected past the helpless Nick Pope.
Newcastle pulled one back two minutes into added time. Callum Wilson finished his beautiful individual effort with a superb strike from inside the box to make it 3-1.
