The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency conducted a community engagement advocacy session in Oshodi Isolo Local Government to combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and all forms of abuse.

This initiative is part of the activities commemorating Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness Month in September 2023.

Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, the Executive Secretary of the Agency, emphasised the agency’s unequivocal stance against SGBV and domestic violence during the sensitization event held in Oshodi Isolo Local Government over the weekend.

She stressed that these issues are of growing concern in the state and cannot be tolerated.

Represented by Ms. Adetoun Odumbo, Vivour-Adeniyi educated the audience about the various forms of SGBV, including physical, emotional, economic, and sexual violence.

Odumbo highlighted the existing laws addressing these issues and underscored the importance of preventative measures.

In a passionate plea, she called on residents to report cases, ensuring that survivors receive justice, and that perpetrators of these egregious crimes face the full force of the law.

Odumbo urged the audience not to hesitate to use the designated channel for reporting SGBV cases through the Agency’s toll-free hotline at 0-8000-333-333 when incidents occur around them.

Ms. Tomisin Akinwunmi expanded on the support services offered by the Agency, assuring the community that these services are provided free of charge by the Lagos State Government.
