A robbery suspect, Olamide Tailor, 33, has allegedly confessed to the police at the Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos that he was able to rob his victim of his Toyota Corolla Car valued at N3m and other properties after he poured ground pepper on his face following his attempt to expose him and his accomplices.

“I led my accomplices, now at large, to invade the residence of the complainant to rob him, but instead of him cooperating with us, he started behaving in a way to attract attention.

“I had to swiftly pour the ground pepper I brought out from my pocket on his eyes to disorganise and destabilise him.

“We successfully robbed him of his Toyota car, laptop, clothes, shoes, phones and cash while he was screaming and could not see again”, Tailor allegedly told the police.”

Police alleged that trouble started for Tailor when he led his accomplices to the residence of the complainant to rob him of his car, laptop, phones, shoes, clothes and cash and escaped.

Police said that following the incident, the complainant petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Mohammed Ali who directed his men to hunt down the suspects.

After several days of intelligence gathering the police team tracked the suspect to a hideout in Lagos and arrested him.

Tailor was charged before the Ebute-metta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos on three counts bordering on robbery and stealing.

Police prosecuting counsel, ASP Francis Igbinosa informed the court in the charge marked F/27/2023 that the defendant committed the offence in Lagos.

Igbinosa told the court that the defendant and others still at large invaded the complainant’s residence to rob him of his car valued at N3m and other properties after pouring pepper on his eyes.

He said the offences, the defendant committed were punishable under sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate, Mr. Davies granted him N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Davies adjourned the case and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi Correctional Facility till he perfected the bail conditions.
