DC United and head coach Wayne Rooney have officially agreed to part ways, marking the end of Rooney’s tenure as the club’s manager.

Rooney, a former England and Manchester United forward, initially joined DC United as a player in 2018 and later transitioned to a coaching role in July 2022.

Despite a 2-0 victory in their season finale against New York City FC, DC United failed to make the MLS Cup playoffs for the fourth consecutive year, finishing the season with 40 points.

Following the match, Rooney expressed that he had given his all to guide DC United to the playoffs, but he believed it was the right time to move on.
