Newcastle United crashed 0-1 to Dortmund at St. James’ Park on Wednesday in a Champions League match to lose top spot in Group F.

The visitors shocked the crowd at St. James Park when they opened scoring on 45 minutes just before half-time whistle.

Nico Schlotterbeck produced a great pass that found Felix Nmecha inside the penalty area, who took advantage of the situation to rifle a shot into the right side of the goal.

Earlier, Niclas Fullkrug was quickest to a rebound and shot towards the middle of the net, but the goalkeeper pulled off a comfortable save to deny him.

Donyell Malen created some space for himself to pick up a pass on the edge of the box and unleashed a decent strike which went a whisker over the crossbar.

Callum Wilson, on 56 minutes had time and space inside the box after picking up a neat pass, but his shot low towards the middle of the goal was comfortably saved by Gregor Kobel.

Three minutes to duration, Wilson leapt high to meet a beautiful cross from the resulting free kick and attempted to score with a header from near the penalty spot. His effort lacked accuracy and bounced away off the bar.
