The Rivers Government has said the N195.3 billion, 50.15km contract for the Port Harcourt, PH Ring Road project cannot be revoked because the road project is crucial for the advancement and improvement of the economy of the state.

The Rivers State Government said this in a statement it issued to dismiss claim that the contract has been cancelled following the fallout between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Fubara had about three months ago signed the contract for the N195.3 billion Port Harcourt Ring Road with construction giant, Julius Berger.

He had revealed that the state government would pay 77 per cent of the contract sum totalling about N150 billion to the contractor to commence the works.

However, Rivers State asserted that the project is still ongoing as 77 per cent of the contract sum has been paid as promised by the Governor.
