Bus drivers plying Lagos Roads on Lagos Island, Lekki, and the Mainland, Lagos, Nigeria have commended the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for supporting General Manager, GM in charge of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba to transform and restructure LASTMA operations.
They also praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his foresight in picking a LASTMA insider as General Manager which has helped greatly in dealing with public complaints about LASTMA operations, saying that with the superlative performance of Mr. Bolaji Oreagba within one year in office, they absolutely believed that Mr. Bolaji Oreagba is the best LASTMA General Manager Lagos has ever produced.
The bus drivers enumerated the achievements of Mr. Oreagba within a year in the office including his incorruptibility, changing of negative mindset of drivers about LASTMA operations, stopping illegal operations with seven passengers bus popularly called ‘korope’ by Lastma officials, reducing incidences of extortions by LASTMA officials, responding to drivers complaints on time, refunding extorted money back to drivers through provost office, inculcating discipline and due process in LASTMA operations and stopping of illegal toying van operators who were daily denting the image of the LASTMA and the Lagos State Government with their overzealous and unprofessional conducts.
According to some of the drivers who spoke with P.M.NEWS, Bolaji Oreagba is the best LASTMA General Manager Lagos has ever appointed, adding that he has done what other past LASTMA leaders could not do since LASTMA was established.
According to Mr. Eliafa Obioma, a bus driver, “We must thank Governor Sanwo-Olu for picking a LASTMA insider to sanitise the LASTMA operations and changing the negative mindset of bus drivers about LASTMA operations, saying Mr. Bolaji Oreagba’s quick response to driver’s complaints make him the best.
Mr. John Omenai, a bus driver plying Victoria Island, Lagos from Mowe in Ogun State said, “I have been having negative mindset about LASTMA operations until the day I met Mr. Bolaji Oreagba when he refunded the money a LASTMA official collected from me for no just cause without asking me which state in Nigeria I came from.
“I am now appealing to Governor Sanwo-Olu to continue to support Mr. Bolaji Oreagba to enable him to move LASTMA operations to international standard.”
Other drivers who spoke glowingly about the good job Mr. Oreagba has done within one year in office include Mr. Kingsley Obianuju, Babatunde Raji Rasaki and Okechukwu Okoro. They all praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his detribalized and selfless leadership quality in Lagos.
