Nollywood veteran Hanks Anuku has revealed that he took to alcohol as a coping strategy in his struggle against depression.
Reports and videos had recently surfaced, expressing concerns about his well-being.
In a widely circulated video on his Instagram page, Anuku disclosed his financial hardships, stating,
“Yes, depression makes me drink but I never take hard drugs, I don’t take hard drugs at all. When it reaches that breaking point, shattered and overwhelmed, I sought solace in alcohol.”
The 63-year-old actor candidly shared his emotional turmoil and the impact it had on his life.
“Out of depression, I did not have a job for years, I was thinking about my children, their school fees and their welfare among other things and you know what it is like when it gets to that point. “I call it a breaking point, I was broken to pieces and I had to go drinking and that is it”.
