The former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, has disclosed that his primary regret as the governor was not having control over policies.

He spoke during a Special Thanksgiving/Welcome Service hosted by the United Evangelical Church, Lagos Township Superintendence.

Emmanuel was quoted in a statement from the Government House, Uyo reported by Punch, to have told the congregation that despite his achievements, his main remorse was not having control over policies.

Udom Emmanuel was governor of Akwa Ibom State from May 2015 to May 2023.

Udom emphasized that had he possessed that authority, the state would have progressed significantly.

“The only regret I have is that I did not control policies. If I had control over policies as a state, trust me, we would have been miles ahead as a state. But today, I still thank God that we went with our blueprint and God helped us”, the ex-governor said.

Additionally, Udom reflected on the 2016 Reigners Bible Church building collapse, attributing his survival to divine intervention.
