Opposition party rates Sanwo-Olu’s administration high

The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Lagos State has commended the administration of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the state for what it describes as pragmatic development in transportation, security, health, education and human capital.

The party, however, said that the administration would need more efforts to increase the number of universities and befitting specialist hospitals in the state.

Mr Adekunle Mode-Adenipebi, the Lagos State ZLP Chairman and governorship candidate of the party in the 2023 election, gave the commendation in an interview on Tuesday in Lagos.

“Assessing the Lagos State government on security, Sanwo-Olu has done very well.

“On human capital development, he has also done very well while also attracting investors to the state.

“The government, however, needs to increase the number of universities in the state, taking into consideration the population of state.

“As an educationalist, I can help with the technicalities in creating more universities.

“The government needs to do more in the health sector, especially in the treatment of infants.

“We expect also that Sanwo-Olu will create at least three specialist hospitals in each senatorial district,” he said.

According to him, Sanwo-Olu, administration has urbanised the transportation network in Lagos state by giving his best to decongest the traffic on Lagos roads.

“The governor deserves applause for rejuvenating the long abandoned modes of transportation, especially the rail and the water transportation which connect the suburb and the metropolis for effective communication and businesses,” he said.

He applauded Sanwo-Olu’s inauguration of Lagos Blue Line Rail for commercial operation as well as the procurement of new trains for the 37-km Oyingbo-Agbado Red Line.

Speaking on Sanwo-Olu’s investment in water transportation, Mode-Adenipebi said that “LAGverry now operates with over 22 boats”

“I think the governor has done well in the water transportation sector but more should be done”.

Mode-Adenipebi called on Sanwo-Olu to focus on the security of commuters on waterways as well as increasing the personnel of the marine police for water patrol.

Mode-Adenipebi also advised Sanwo-Olu to invest more in sectors that would reduce unemployment and poverty, while ensuring a people-friendly business environment.(NAN)
