United finished last in Group A and crashed out of the tournament, with Bayern and FC Copenhagen going through to the next stage while Galatasaray will play in the Europa League.

The English side needed a win to at least play in the Europa League but they were condemned to defeat at Old Trafford four days after they were thrashed 3-0 by Bournemouth at the same stadium in the premier league.

Bayern scored the only goal of the match midway into the second half. Harry Kane provided Kingsley Coman with a nice pass inside the box. It allowed him to finish with a precise effort inside the left post.

Towards the end of the match, Kane reacted well and displayed good awareness inside the box to get on the end of the resulting corner kick. He failed to direct the ball into the net as it flew narrowly wide off the right post.
