Primary School teachers in Abuja will on Monday, January 15, resume their suspended strike.  This follows the directive of  the Federal Capital Territory Wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers.

The directive was contained in  a communique dated January 12, 2024, and which issued after  an emergency meeting of the Standing Committee of the NUT for the FCT.

The communique  which was co-signed by the chairman of the NUT in the FCT, Abdullahi Shafas, the  Secretary, Mrs Margaret Jethro and the Publicity Secretary, Ibukun Adekeye,  directed   secondary school teachers to join the strike from January 22, if nothing was done  to meet the demands of the primary school teachers before January 19.

The communique partly read:  “We are concerned that a series of meetings have taken place, but the primary school teachers remain in a pathetic situation and continue to bear the brunt of the high cost of living attributable to the removal of fuel subsidies without succour from anywhere.
