The Nigeria Police announced early Sunday that the remaining daughters of Alhaji Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, kidnapped in the Bwari area of the Federal Capital of Abuja, have been freed from their captors.

Also freed were four members of lawyer Oladosu Ariyo family, the wife and three other children, kidnapped in Dutse area of the capital.

The kidnappers killed Folashade Ariyo, a 13 year old, who was initially kidnapped with them, just as they killed one of Al-Kadriyar’s daughters, identified as Najeeba. She was a 400 level student of Ahmadu Bello University.

While the Ariyo family members were kidnapped on 7 January, the children of Alhaji Al-Kadriyar were kidnapped on 9 January, alongside the father. He was released to source the N50m ransom.

The kidnappers stormed the Ariyo family house in Dutse dressed in military uniform.

In a statement Sunday, the Nigeria Police said the Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping squad, working in concert with the army, freed the victims. The police said operatives accomplished this near Kajuru forest in Kaduna state around 11:30 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

All the victims have been reunited with the families.
