Police to go after LBGTQ members in Nigeria

The Nigeria Police Force has sent out a strong warning to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer, LBGTQ, people to stay off Nigeria.

The warning was handed out by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, who disclosed that the police would be going after such people.

He said LBGTQ members seen in the trending ‘Of Course’ challenge, would not find Nigeria a comfort zone, describing them as “criminals.”

There are trending videos showing alleged members of the LBGTQ describing who they are and what people think of them.

Quoting the video and tagging the Force Public Relations Officer, an X user identified as #iamking_yusuf wrote: “Una no update us say LGBTQ is now legal in Naija o. Buh no shaking, all of us go well last last.”

Replying to the message, Adejobi wrote: “They are criminals and punishable under the law.“We are on this clip to take necessary action according to the provisions of the law in Nigeria. These are unnatural offences and are totally condemned. Thanks.”
