Police in Kano move against bandits, kidnappers

Police in Kano have intensified the fight against bandits and kidnappers who are infiltrating the state through border communities.
Already, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Usaini Gumel, has issued security tips to residents  on how to stay safe against the antics of kidnappers and bandits.
He urged everyone to remain vigilant and keep reporting any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation or through the Police Command’s emergency contact numbers: 08032419754, 08123821575, 09029292926.
He said,  “Generally speaking, community crimes especially incidence of banditry, kidnapping and related offences are cases where solutions cannot be found in isolation.”
He said the Kano state police Command was always synergizing with the military and  other sister-security agencies, community policing stakeholders and the good people of Kano State to ensure lasting peace and order in the state.

The Kano CP stated that  the Command was studying the crime pattern and the drawing of an action plan which isdomiciled along the pillars of community policing.

“The Police Command also synergised with the military and other sister-security agencies and leverage on the State Government and the people supports by setting up of Joint Task Force committed for regularly checkmating and nipping in the bud, the threats and other isolated incidences of banditry, kidnapping and related offences along the border Local Government Areas of the State, bordering Kaduna, Katsina, Jigawa and Bauchi states.
“In implementing the initiative, the task force embarked on clearance operations in the identified areas where pockets of threats and kidnapping incidences, in particular Falgore and Dan Soshiya Forests during which a lot of criminals were arrested and prosecuted for offences ranging from kidnapping, cross-border armed robbery, motor vehicle theft, abduction, illicit drug dealings and other criminal activities in the state,” he added.

CP Gumel, however,  assured the public that the Police Command would remain steadfast towards fighting all forms of crime and providing a safe and more secure environment for all residents in Kano state.

He said,” this can only be achieved when all hands are on deck as the issue of security is a collective responsibility that requires the commitment of all.”

The  Kano police boss while appreciating the confidence and friendship gesture extended by the good people of the state to the Police Command, also thanked everyone for their prayers, understanding, continuous support, encouragement and cooperation.
