Operatives of the Marine Police in Bonny have arrested some suspected sea pirates who attempted to hijack a boat on Bonny waterways in Rivers State.
The report about arrest was contained in security briefing to the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox in her office .
While confirming the arrest, Boma Waribor, the Press Secretary to the Bonny local government said,”some men of the underworld were yesterday arrested while trying to murder and hijack the boat of a driver who was on a hired service around Bonny River enroute Port Harcourt.
“Deservedly, luck ran out of the gunmen as they were swiftly intercepted, resisted, overpowered and arrested by gallant and alert officers of the Marine Police, Bonny.
The suspected sea pirates are now in detention assisting the Police in the full investigation of the incident with a view to fishing out all other suspects at large to face the full weight of the law.
The Executive Chairman is therefore urging residents and visitors of Bonny to continue in their legitimate businesses with the confidence that the Local Government together with all Security Agencies are on the same page of ensuring that the LGA continues to enjoy the reign of peace, security, stability.
