The All Progressives Congress (APC) has cleared 12 aspirants for participation in its February 17 primary for the September 2024 Edo governorship election.
The seven-member National Gubernatorial Aspirants Screening Committee of APC led by Prof. Taoheed Abdul Adedoja-led cleared all the aspirants for participation in the 17 February primary of the party early Saturday morning.
APC National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammadu Arugungu confirmed that all the 12 aspirants who indicated interest in contesting for the governorship ticket were given the go-ahead to participate in the primary in a statement on Saturday morning.
Arugungu listed the aspirants as: former Minister of State, National Economic Planning, Prince Clem Agba; Senator Monday Okpebholo, who represents Edo Central; former Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Imasuen; member representing Etsako Federal Constituency, Hon. Anamero Sunday Dekeri; former APC governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Engr. Gideon Ikhine.
Others are former Edo APC chairman Col. David Imuse; former Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Major. General Charles Airhiavbere (Rtd); former Governor Oserheimen Osunbor; former Zonal Organising Secretary (South-South), Dr. Blessing Agbohmere; member representing Ovia South/West-Ovia North/East Federal Constituency, Hon. Dennis Idahosa and Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe.
Argungu said all the cleared aspirants will be issued Certificate of Screening clearance on Saturday by noon at the party Secretariat.
