Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has been confirmed as a performer at this year’s edition of the highest profile music awards ceremony in the United Kingdom, the BRIT Awards.

The organisers announced this via their social media page on Thursday morning.

“Stay calm, @heisrema will be performing at the #BRITs 2024.

“let’s gooooooo,” Brit Awards wrote via X.

This is coming after the singer made history as the first African artist to win a Chinese Music Award.

The singer achieved the feat after his song ‘Calm Down’ remix with American superstar Selena Gomez won the Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2024 Hito Music Award in the Republic of China.

The award was presented by Hit FM, Taiwan, and hosted by DJ Andy.

Rema will become the second Nigerian artiste to perform at the Brit Awards. Burna Boy performed at the award ceremony in 2018.

Burna Boy and Asake were nominated in the star-studded International Artist of the Year category while Rema’s ‘Calm Down’ was nominated in the highly coveted International Song of the Year category at the 2024 Brit Awards.

The award ceremony is scheduled to hold in London on March 2, 2023.

Nigeria is yet to have a Brit Award winner.

In November 2023, Rema shuts down his “Ravage Uprising” 02 Arena show in London. The sold-out show of 20,000 capacity saw the likes of Nigerian celebrities and fans traveling all the way to London for the show that can described as yet another celebration of Afrobeats.

Rema joined other award-winning Nigerian artistes like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Asake who have already sold the arena.
