Court remands man for alleged armed robbery

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 33-year-old man, Stanley Julius, in a corrections centre for alleged armed robbery.

The police charged Julius, who is unemployed and resides in Ungwan Sarki Malali, Kaduna, with conspiracy, robbery and unlawful possession of stolen property.

Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel, who did not to take Julius’ plea, adjourned the case until May 22 for mention and receipt of legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution’s (DPP).

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the suspect committed the offence on April 11 at Kinkinau Kaduna.

Leo said that the suspect and others at large, robbed one Mr Eric Daniel of his iPhone worth N380, 000 and Samsung S6 worth N180, 000 at gun point in his house.

He said that Julius and his accomplices, who were armed with a locally made gun, entered the complainant’s apartment and robbed him and his family.

The prosecutor said that the complainant’s mobile phones were eventually tracked to the suspect.

He said that the offence contravened the provisions of Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
