The Lagos State Government has dismissed claim that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has promised to increase the minimum wage in the State to N70,000.

Sanwo-Olu, according to some media reports allegedly announced the increase in the minimum wage in Lagos from N35,000 to N70,000 during the unveiling of Eko Cares – the umbrella for the various interventions to protect the poor against the effects of the prevailing economic hardship on Wednesday.

But Lagos Commissioner for Information said the reports were misinterpretation of what Sanwo-Olu said at the event which was held at the Governor’s Office in Ikeja.

“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been erroneously quoted as saying that a new minimum wage of N70,000 had been announced.
