Director-General of the World Trade Organisation ( WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala made a passionate request while addressing newsmen after meeting with the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle.

She desired more women’s inclusion and participation in leadership roles.

Okonjo-Iweala made the request at the Nigerian Women in Leadership event on Saturday in Abuja, an event she, the Duchess and other women attended.

She noted that women face many challenges while trying to become leaders, calling for an enabling environment for the gender.

She informed newsmen that during the deliberations, the women and the Duchess exchanged views on various issues and discussed the way forward in ensuring more women in leadership positions.

She canvassed for an increase in the percentage of women in leadership positions at state and federal levels.

Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry arrived in Nigeria on Friday for their 72-hour tour to promote the Invictus Games.
