Passengers stranded as Abuja bound train derails in Kaduna

Three carriages of a train traveling from Kaduna to Abuja on Sunday derailed at Jere community, one hour after it took off.

It was learned that the train with many passengers on board departed Kaduna around 8:05 am.

The three carriages skidded off the track as seen in some pictures posted online by some of the passengers inside the train at the time of the accident.

However, security operatives were said to have responded swiftly to provide security for the passengers.

The security operatives including the Nigeria Police and Army, were present at the site to provide support.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, (NSIB) also confirmed the incident.

Related News

NSIB revealed that it has deployed some of its personnel to investigate the cause of the accident.

”NSIB is aware of a derailment of an Abuja-bound train from Kaduna which occurred halfway into the journey at Jere.”

”A go team has been deployed to the site of the accident, ‘ the statement read.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation,(NRC) has yet to confirm the incident.
