Yinka Egbeyemi removed as RRS Commander, banished to Police Command

Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Yinka Egbeyemi has been removed as Commander of the Lagos Rapid Response Squad (RRS) and banished to the Police Command.

Egbeyemi who became RRS Commander in December 2020 has been replaced by CSP Shola Jejeloye, who was the head of the Lagos Taskforce.

It was gathered that Egbeyemi has been redeployed to the administrative department of the Lagos State Police Command after over three years in charge of RRS.

He will officially handover to Jejeloye on Friday as the new RRS boss.

Jejeloye became Taskforce chairman in December 2020 after Egbeyemi vacated the seat to become RRS boss.

CSP Adetayo Akerele has been appointed the new Chairman of the Lagos Environmental and Special Offenses Unit (Taskforce).

Akerele was the former BRT Lane Monitoring and Enforcement Commander.

During the reign of Egbeyemi as RRS boss, the squad were often seen impounding vehicles plying one way, which is supposed to be the function of the Taskforce.

Oftentimes they impound okadas and bring them to the RRS office which is not their function.

Also, during the reign of Jejeloye as Taskforce chairman, thousands of okada riders were impounded and crushed.

But there were alleged complain of the taskforce being used to do the dirty jobs of land grabbing where much money allegedly exchanged hands.
