Kano constitutes payroll standing committee

The Kano State Government has constituted the  state payroll standing committee to ensure adequate review and timely payment of workers’ salaries.
A statement by Musa Tanko Muhammad, Assistant Chief Information Officer in the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), indicated that the Committee will tackle challenges of  salary payment in the state.
According to the statement,  Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, approved the formation of the State Payroll Standing Committee which will be chaired by a retired Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Auwalu Umar Sanda.
Presenting the appointment letter to the chairman, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim, represented by the Permanent Secretary, REPA, SSG’s Office, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Jalo, outlined the committee’s mandate.
The Committee’s mandate include: receiving monthly salary updates from Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs); endorsing salary variation updates for implementation and consideration.
Liaising with MDAs, cooperatives, unions, and local vendors for effective salary management; coordinating and collecting monthly updates from workstations for submission to the Office of the Accountant General; preparing briefs for His Excellency, the Governor’s monthly salary approval.
The SSG emphasized that Alhaji Auwalu Umar Sanda’s appointment reflects his professional competence, qualifications, and outstanding track record in public service. His vast experience, patriotism, and commitment to the socio-economic development of the state were key factors in his selection.
He congratulated the new chairman and prayed for Allah’s wisdom, determination, and courage to help him discharge his duties diligently, in line with the aspirations of the government and people of Kano State.
In his response, Alhaji Auwalu Umar Sanda expressed profound gratitude to His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for entrusting him with this critical responsibility. He also sought the prayers of the people of Kano for Allah’s continued guidance and blessings to enable him to exceed expectations.
