Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the residence of former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, before proceeding to Ilesa to attend the coronation ceremony of the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijeshaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup.
Sharing updates on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Atiku posted a photo from a breakfast gathering with Aregbesola, describing it simply as “Breakfast time at the residence of former Governor of Osun State, Engr Rauf Aregbesola.”
Shortly after, Atiku joined a large crowd of indigenes, dignitaries, and well-wishers for the traditional enthronement of HRH Oba Haastrup, who ascended the throne as Ajimoko III.

The coronation ceremony marked a significant moment in the history of Ijeshaland, drawing notable figures from across the country.

“It was with profound joy that I joined multitudes of Ijesha sons and daughters and well-wishers to witness the coronation of HRH Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, as the new Owa Obokun Adimula, Ajimoko III in Ilesha, Osun State, today,” Atiku posted.
“I was there both as an in-law and a friend of the great people of Ijeshaland. I wish the new Owa Obokun a peaceful and long reign.”
Atiku’s presence at the ceremony underscores his close ties with the people of Ijeshaland, both personally and politically, and reflects his continued engagement in traditional and cultural affairs across Nigeria.
