The police command of the FCT has arrested three suspects linked to a series of abductions and kidnappings in Abuja.
SP Josephine Adeh released a statement on Thursday, announcing that the suspects were arrested during sting operations.
The suspects, 30-year-old Sale Usman, 28-year-old Ibrahim Abdullahi and 27-year-old Ya’u Shittu have been on the wanted list of the police command before their arrest.
The statement revealed that the suspects confessed to multiple kidnappings and murders.
Ibrahim Abdullahi who was confirmed as the gang’s supplier of arms attempted to flee during a crossfire with the police, but was shot and arrested.
The commissioner of police of the FCT, CP Ajao S. Adewale commended the Scorpion Squad for their bravery during the operation. He also assured Abuja residents of the command’s commitment to their safety.
“This is a major blow to violent crime in the FCT. We are determined to rid our communities of criminal elements,” he said.
The police also revealed that efforts are being made to ensure the arrest of other members of the gang.
