The Russian Foreign Ministry has strongly criticized the recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, calling them a dangerous move that could worsen both regional and global security.
In a statement on Sunday, Russia said the chances of more conflict in the Middle East—already troubled by many crises—have now gone up.
Just last week, Russia warned the U.S. not to get involved in Israel’s war with Iran. It said that doing so would be extremely risky and could lead to unpredictable and harmful results.
These comments came after President Putin spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Russia now faces a tough choice. Because Iran has been helping Russia in the war in Ukraine, Moscow must quickly decide how to support Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, who is now under serious threat from Israel.
