Two men, Muiz Azeez, 20, and Idris Omotosho, 25, were on Tuesday, arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly conducting themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace.
The defendants, who reside at Abule- Egba area, Lagos, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and disorderly conduct.
The Prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Aug. 12, at about 9:00 p.m. along Abule-Egba highway, Lagos.
Ikhayere allged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by begging alms and wandering in suspicious circumstances.
She further alleged that the defendants were there for an illegal or disorderly purpose. According to her, the offences contravene Sections 168 and 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 168 stipulates imprisonment three months for anyone found guilty of disorderly conduct. The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Mr. Lateef Owolabi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N350,000 with two sureties in like sum. He adjourned the case until Sept. 24, for mention. (NAN)
