In a statement issued by her media office, Ajimobi called the claims “entirely false, baseless, and a deliberate act of disinformation”, aimed at damaging her reputation and misleading the public. She emphasized that she neither convened nor participated in any meetings, in Lagos or elsewhere, allegedly linked to discussions about impeachment or the destabilization of the Oyo State government.
Former First Lady of Oyo State and ambassador-designate to Austria, Florence Ajimobi, has firmly rejected allegations connecting her to a supposed scheme to influence members of the Oyo State House of Assembly to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.
“At no time did I convene, attend, or participate in any such meeting with any individual or group for the purpose of discussing impeachment or destabilising the Oyo State Government,” the statement read.
Ajimobi described the allegations as politically motivated and intended to tarnish her standing among Oyo State residents and the broader public.
“Any attempt to associate my name with such a plot is purely mischievous and a deliberate act of character assassination,” she said.
She clarified that she has no involvement in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, and that her focus remains on humanitarian and professional engagements.
The statement also noted that other prominent lawmakers, including Hon. Gbenga Oyekola and Deputy Speaker Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, have similarly denied any role in the alleged impeachment plot or receipt of inducements from political actors.
Reaffirming her commitment to peace and stability, Ajimobi urged the public to disregard circulating reports, warning that the continued spread of false information could have legal consequences if not retracted.
“I will not be distracted by unfounded and mischievous claims aimed at dragging my name into political controversies,” she added.
