Operatives of the Sagamu Area Command of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested 146 suspects during a coordinated raid aimed at curbing crime and strengthening security in Sagamu and its environs.
The operation, code-named “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” was carried out in the early hours of April 13, 2026, following a series of strategic engagements with traditional authorities, the Sagamu Local Government Council and heads of security agencies to reinforce collaborative security efforts.
Police said the intelligence-led exercise targeted identified flashpoints where suspected criminal elements had been posing threats to public peace and safety, noting that the operation was designed to forestall any breakdown of law and order while boosting residents’ confidence in security measures.
The raid was jointly executed by personnel of the Nigeria Police Force in collaboration with the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), underscoring a unified and proactive security response.
Authorities disclosed that the suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities.
The police said those found culpable would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the synergy, professionalism and operational discipline demonstrated by the participating agencies, assuring residents of sustained intelligence-led policing to maintain peace and security across the state.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines, including the Gateway Shield toll-free platform.
