A coalition of Christian non-governmental organisations under the umbrella of the Christian NGOs Coordinating Council has announced plans to host a National Prayer Summit in Lagos focused on prayers for Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu and political leaders ahead of future elections.

The summit, themed “A Nation Loved by God,” and inspired by the biblical passage in 2 Chronicles 7:14, is scheduled to hold on May 14, 2026, at the Chapel of Christ the Light in Alausa, Ikeja.

According to the organisers, the gathering is designed to seek divine intervention for the country, promote peace and unity, and encourage responsible leadership and good governance.

The summit will also feature prayers for political aspirants, including Lagos State Deputy Governor, Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, alongside other governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly aspirants expected at the event.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is also expected to attend the programme alongside political leaders, clerics and faith-based stakeholders from different parts of the country.

The organisers disclosed that prominent religious leaders and government officials would deliver keynote addresses and goodwill messages during the summit.

Among dignitaries expected at the gathering are the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Tayo Ayinde; Archbishop Isaac A. Olawuyi of the Lagos Methodist Church; Lagos APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi; and Dr Oluwaseye Yomi Sholoye of The New Seraph Ministries.

Speaking on behalf of the organising committee, National Coordinator of the Council, Sam Ogedengbe, described the summit as a spiritual initiative aimed at fostering national healing, reconciliation and collective responsibility among citizens and political leaders.

Other officials coordinating the programme include Bishop Kayode Williams, Deputy National Coordinator; Archbishop Mike Akinyoade, National Secretary; and Primate Dare Akindele, who heads mobilisation and logistics for the summit.

The organisers urged Nigerians, particularly political office holders, aspirants and faith-based organisations, to participate actively in the event and pray for peace, stability and progress in the country.
