EPL: Chelsea reveal date to announce Xabi Alonso as new head coach

Former Spain midfielder Xabi Alonso is expected to be announced as Chelsea’s new manager on Sunday. He will officially start the job on July 1.

According to reports, Alonso will have the title of “manager” instead of “head coach.” This is because of his experience and success, including winning the Bundesliga with Bayer 04 Leverkusen.

Chelsea believe Alonso is calm, tactical, and capable of improving the atmosphere at Stamford Bridge. The club also admits mistakes were made this season and says lessons have been learned.

Chelsea’s main goal is to return to competing for major trophies and qualify again for the UEFA Champions League.

Alonso is also expected to work closely with the club’s sporting directors and owners on player recruitment and squad planning.
