Chelsea’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, has revealed the major changes he plans to introduce at the club ahead of the new season.

Speaking during an interview with Chelsea’s official website, Alonso explained that his main focus will be on improving the team’s work ethic, creating a stronger dressing-room culture, and bringing trophies back to the club.

According to the former Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen coach, Chelsea already has a squad filled with talented players, but he believes success can only come through discipline, commitment, unity, and consistency on the pitch.

Alonso said he is honoured to be given the opportunity to manage one of England’s biggest clubs and is determined to build a winning team that fans can be proud of. He added that his immediate priority is to instill the right mentality among the players while creating an environment where everyone works hard for the club’s objectives.

The 44-year-old manager was appointed shortly after Chelsea’s defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Alonso is expected to officially resume his duties on July 1, 2026, after signing a four-year contract with the West London club as Chelsea begins preparations for a new era under his leadership.
