Zuchu and husband Diamond Platnumz part ways after six years

Tanzanian singer Zuchu has announced the collapse of her marriage to music star and label boss Diamond Platnumz.

The 32-year-old singer disclosed the separation in an emotional Instagram post, saying they were now going through a divorce after six years together.

Zuchu, whose real name is Zuhura Othman Soud, said the decision was painful but necessary as she had chosen to prioritise herself.

“My former partner and I are now separated and going through a divorce,” she wrote.

“After six years of being together, I have finally decided to choose myself.”

The singer wished Diamond, whose real name is Naseeb Abdul, and his family well, saying she would now focus on her healing, health and career.

She added that although they tried to save the relationship, she had accepted that their journey together had ended.

“We tried, but Allah has His own plans, and I have no choice but to accept them,” she said.

The couple reportedly married in a private ceremony in June 2025 after years of speculation surrounding their relationship.

Diamond, 36, had not publicly reacted to the announcement at the time of filing this report.

Zuchu’s relationship with Diamond went beyond romance, as he also played a major role in launching her music career.

She joined his WCB Wasafi record label after an audition arranged through her mother.

Her performance earned her a recording deal, with her song, Wana, later released as her debut single.

The separation brings to an end one of East Africa’s most prominent celebrity relationships.
