The Pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, said though Pa Ayo Adebanjo, its leader who died on Friday at 96 lived to ripe old age,he will be missed because of his contributions to Nigeria, Yoruba land and the organisation
Mr Jare Ajayi, the National Publicity Secretary, Afenifere said this in the initial reaction of the organization to the death of Adebanjo on Friday morning.
Ajayi added that the organization received the passing of its foremost leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, with great shock.
Ajayi said: “We actually received the news of the passing into glory of Samuel Ayodeji Adebanjo with great shock.
“He lived to the ripe old age of 96, quite all right, but given his contributions to Nigeria, to Yoruba land and of course, to our organisation, Afenifere, he would be greatly missed.
“We value his contributions and we mourn his loss and pray for the repose of his soul. Yes. He will be remembered as an outstanding person.
“He was very patriotic and very committed .Whatever cause Adebanjo believed in, he put all he had into it.” (NAN)
