The race to crown Nigeria’s next music sensation reached a pulsating high last night as the Nigerian Idol live show served a dazzling mix of emotion, talent, and culture.
Contestants delivered stirring renditions of iconic Nigerian hits, honouring the rich legacy of Afrobeats in a night brimming with passion and star power.
Anchoring the evening with his trademark charisma was host IK Osakioduwa, who welcomed viewers to a show that celebrated the depth of Nigerian artistry.
The judging panel featured returning favourites Ric Hassani and Iyanya, joined by powerhouse vocalist Waje as guest judge. Adding a touch of culinary flair to the evening was celebrity chef Dr. Robert, whose appearance promised more than just musical flavours.
However, before the performances began, the night took a sobering turn. IK revealed that two contestants would be exiting the competition.

Moments later, the audience was hit with a second shock: fan favourite Jkenova was also eliminated. Known for his emotionally charged performances, he reflected, “It’s been an amazing experience. I paused law school just to showcase my talent to the world.”
Despite the emotional farewells, the night surged forward with the Top 7 seizing the spotlight and delivering unforgettable performances that paid homage to Nigerian music legends.

Purp – “Be My Man” by Asa
Purp opened the show with a soulful and elegant take on Asa’s classic. Her poise and vocal finesse drew a standing ovation. Iyanya praised her, saying, “You owned the song. You made it yours.”
Lawrence – “Like I Do” by Fireboy DML
Lawrence offered a tender and heartfelt performance, connecting deeply with the audience. Ric noted, “You showed emotion and passion,” while Waje added, “You’re a passionate singer.”

As the curtain fell, IK thanked Chef Dr. Robert for his culinary contribution and paid tribute to the phenomenal band, vibrant audience, and dedicated judges. The judges urged viewers to support their favourites, reminding fans that every vote counts.
