US President Donald Trump has warned Israel to stop bombing Iran.
Trump’s warning to Israel is coming just as the two countries are currently engaged in a blame game over the alleged violation of the ceasefire agreed on by them.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform to tell Israel that enough was enough.
The US president wrote: “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!”
It remains to be seen how Israel will react to the position of the US, its most important ally.
Already, Irael’s Defence Minister Israel Katz had ordered “intense strikes” on the Iranian capital, Tehran, as he accused Iran of violating the ceasefire truce brokered by the United States and Qatar.
But Iran denied Israel’s claim as it said its security forces were ready to respond to any act of aggression by Israel.
Iran on its own part, also blamed Israel for not honouring the truce.
A spokesman for the Iranian armed forces was quoted as saying on state TV: “The Zionist regime launched three waves of attacks on sites in Iranian territory until 9:00 am today.”
