Ogun man Jubril Mukaila jailed 7 years for belonging to Aiye secret cult

A 34-year-old man, Jubril Mukaila has been sentenced to seven years imprisonment for belonging to Aiye confraternity secret cult group in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
Mukaila was sentenced after he -pleaded guilty to the charges filed against him before a Special Anti-Cultism Court in Abeokuta on Friday.
The defendant who resides in Abeokuta was convicted of membership of an unlawful society.
The Magistrate, Mrs Omotorera Ogundele, sentenced Mukaila following his plea of guilt.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Olaide Rawlings, told the court that the convict committed the offence on July 6, at Federal Medical Center area in Kemta Abeokuta.
Rawling said the convict was arrested while men of the police were on parade duty, in respect of the “777” anniversary of cult members.
“Upon his arrest while interrogating him, he made a confessional statement that he belonged to the Aiye confraternity secret cult group and he also had a 777 tattoo on his left hand,”she said.
Rawlings said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 34 35 and 36 of the Prohibition of Forcible Occupation of Landed Properties, Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Cultism and other Anti-Violence and other Related Offences Laws, 2016. (NAN)
