Rape Allegation: Moroccan star, Hakimi finally breaks silence
Quick Read
Throughout this challenging time, Hakimi continues to focus on his career and personal life, maintaining his innocence while the legal process unfolds.
Achraf Hakimi, the Paris Saint-Germain defender, has publicly addressed the serious rape allegations currently facing him. In a recent interview with Foot Africa, Hakimi described the accusations as “horrible” and “unfair,” firmly denying any wrongdoing.
He emphasized that he has “nothing to blame” himself for and that those who know him understand his innocence. Despite the gravity of the situation, Hakimi said he remains calm and focused on his family and football.
The allegations stem from an incident reported to have occurred in March 2023, when a woman reportedly visited Hakimi’s home in Boulogne-Billancourt during a time when his wife and children were away.
Following an investigation, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office has formally requested that Hakimi be put on trial for rape, escalating the case to the next legal stage. If the court finds him guilty, Hakimi could face up to 15 years in prison under French law.
Hakimi’s legal team has criticized the prosecutor’s request as “incomprehensible and senseless,” arguing that the evidence is insufficient and pointing out procedural irregularities in the investigation. They have vowed to vigorously defend their client in court.
At present, the case awaits the decision of an investigating judge who will determine whether the matter proceeds to trial.
Throughout this challenging time, Hakimi continues to focus on his career and personal life, maintaining his innocence while the legal process unfolds.
