Dr. Alausa, who chaired the ceremony, praised Bello’s vision, urging other Nigerians to emulate his example by investing in innovative academic infrastructure.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, alongside Nigeria’s Minister of State for Education, Dr. Moruf Olatunji Alausa, and former Ogun State Governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, have hailed the Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr. Olatunji Bello, for his enduring contributions to education and human capital development.

The leaders spoke on Tuesday at the Lagos State University (LASU) campus in Epe during the formal commissioning and handover of the newly built 550-seat Olatunji-Bello Auditorium, a state-of-the-art facility donated by Bello to strengthen the university’s infrastructure.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described the project as a transformative investment in the intellectual growth of young people.

“This modern facility is more than just a structure; it is a beacon of knowledge, creativity, and intellectual engagement,” the governor said.

“It will serve as a hub for academic discourse, cultural exchange, and strategic gatherings, inspiring our students to aim higher and achieve excellence.”

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding access to world-class education under the Education and Technology pillar of his THEMES+ Agenda, stressing that Lagos would continue to produce globally competitive graduates.

Dr. Alausa, who chaired the ceremony, praised Bello’s vision, urging other Nigerians to emulate his example by investing in innovative academic infrastructure.

He also restated the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening the education sector under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Chief Osoba, in his goodwill message, described Bello’s donation as “a gift that will outlive generations,” hailing him as “a man of honour who continues to uplift society through selfless service.”

Vice Chancellor of LASU, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, who is also the donor’s wife, thanked dignitaries for their support and noted that the new facility aligns with LASU’s vision of nurturing future-ready leaders through enhanced learning environments.

In his remarks, Bello said the project reflected his personal conviction that education remains the most powerful tool for social transformation.

“This is not just a hall for academic learning, but a testament to what is possible when faith, purpose, and public interest converge,” he declared.

“We are not merely commissioning a building today, but unveiling a vision for the future.”
