The Executives of God’s Glory Community in Oke-Aro, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State have broken their silence on the recent light issue affecting three Community Development Areas, CDAs.

In a statement made available to the community’s social media group, they apologised for the lack of communication, citing the complexity of the issue and the need for swift action.

The community’s light issue stems from a theft incident, which has required the Executives to navigate bureaucratic procedures to restore power.

According to the Excos, swift measures were taken to fast-track the process, ensuring the community wouldn’t be plunged into darkness for an extended period.

To prevent future occurrences, the Executives have implemented security measures, including reconstructing the transformer house with wire mesh, deploying security personnel, and installing digital security systems. These measures are expected to safeguard the transformer and prevent further theft.

According to the statement, the Community Services Officer, CSO, has also confirmed the progress made so far, and the stolen cable is expected to be restored soon.

The Executives are seeking the community’s patience and cooperation as they finalise the restoration process. They assure the community that they are working diligently to resolve the issue and will provide a full report on the outcome.

The community appreciates the Excos’ commitment to resolving the issue and their transparency in communication.

The statement partly read:

“We the excos appreciate your concern as regards the light issue. We understand the the requisite for a successful administration is the ability to communicate and we sorry for the silence so far. I will also like to appreciate our former vice @⁨~okunadefolasade10⁩ for her motherly concern too.

“The issue of the light is not a small issue, it is a complicated one Cos it’s a theft issue and it affect 3 CDA, and there are a lot of procedures to be done.

“If not for the swift measures we might not have light for the rest of the year Cos of Nigeria bureaucracy but we know the importance of light to our community and our people so we are able to jump procedure and fast track some of the processes. The reason why we didn’t make the contribution public was for security reasons so that the process can be fast track which is the advise they gave from the top.

“Presently, the transformer house has been reconstructed with wire mesh, security has been put in place to safe guard the transformer to avoid further occurrence and also a digital security has been put in place too which are the requirements given to us so as to fast track the light restoration.

“The CSO has come to confirm this and very soon the stolen cable will be restored and we will have our light back as normal. Please exercise more patience and cooperate with us when we come for your help. We might be able to disclose some things here but be rest assured we not resting on this matter. After the whole exercise, a full report will be given on what we got and how it’s been spent on our meeting venue.”

Meanwhile, the affected houses have been approached to contribute their quota financially to fast track the light restoration process.

Earlier, PMNEWS NIGERIA reported that a devastating black out plunged some parts of Oke-Aro community in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State after a yet to be identified individuals carted away vital transformer cables transmitting light to some parts of the community.

The incident, which occurred in the last week of August and first week of September, 2025, has left residents and businesses without electricity, causing widespread disruption in the area.

Confirming the incident to PMNEWS NIGERIA, some of the residents expressed frustration about the situation while expressing security concerns in the community.

According to a video made available on social media platform and confirmed during PMNEWS NIGERIA’s visit to the affected areas, officials have neutralized the transformer to prevent further damage.

However, the timeline for restoring power to the affected areas is uncertain.

The lack of electricity has also raised concerns about security of government properties, as the area is already plagued by bad roads for decades.
