A High Court sitting in Sabo, Yaba, has dismissed an injunction against the installation of the new Osolo of Isolo, Oba Issa Abiodun Olakunle Faronbi-Shekoni.
Presiding Judge, Justice Ezekiel Oluwole Ashade of the Yaba High Court, delivered the ruling on Monday, November 3, 2025, in a case filed by Prince Jimmy Adetokunbo Goloba.
Prince Goloba had sought an injunction restraining Oba Shekoni from being installed or parading himself as the new Osolo, as well as an order for his removal from the throne.
In his defence, Oba Shekoni urged the court to dismiss the suit for lack of jurisdiction, arguing that the court lacked the competence to adjudicate on the matter.
After considering the motions and arguments from both sides, Justice Ashade ruled that the arguments presented by the claimant’s counsel, Prof. Fagbohun (SAN), were not convincing enough to warrant the granting of an injunction.
The judge subsequently dismissed the application but expressed readiness to grant an accelerated hearing of the substantive suit.
Following consultations with both parties, the court adjourned the matter to November 28 and December 5, 2025, for the commencement of the main hearing.
Oba Shekoni was installed as the new Osolo of Isolo by the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Hon. Kayode Roberts, at a closed ceremony held at the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, on March 28, 2025, following the demise of the former monarch, Oba Kabir Adelaja Agbabiaka, who passed away in 2024.
