Could a 20-year-old UK case haunt Don Jazzy? Mavin boss clears the air
Quick Read
Don Jazzy had an accident back in London, he took out the plate number and ran away. Why? Because it will cost him more to tow the car out of there than to repair it,” Bankulli said.
Music executive Don Jazzy has reacted to a resurfaced claim by industry veteran Bankulli about an old car incident that allegedly happened nearly 20 years ago inside London’s Blackwall Tunnel.
Bankulli had suggested that the Mavin Records founder had an accident, removed his number plate and left the vehicle behind.
“Just to survive, Don Jazzy had an accident back in London, he took out the plate number and ran away. Why? Because it will cost him more to tow the car out of there than to repair it,” Bankulli said.
The comments triggered speculation online about whether the incident could ever attract legal attention in the UK, if the music producer ever chooses to travel there.
But Don Jazzy dismissed the panic, clarifying what actually happened and stressing that there was nothing criminal about the event.
“Lol no panic. It’s been so long so I don’t remember the story exactly. I actually waited for the police,” he said.
According to him, police officers arrived at the scene, conducted a breathalyser test and confirmed he was not drunk. “The car was impounded. The fine to collect the car back was more than the cheap car so I left it with them lol,” he added.
PM News understands that incidents of this nature fall under minor traffic matters, which in the UK carry a strict six-month window for prosecution. After that period, such cases become statute-barred and cannot be reopened, especially when police were already involved at the time.
