Why Atiku cannot defeat Tinubu in 2027 – Group

The group operating under the banner of BTO4PBAT, insisted that President Bola Tinubu remains firmly on course for a second term, regardless of Atiku’s new political alignment.
A political support group within the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has dismissed suggestions that the African Democratic Congress and its emerging coalition pose any real challenge to the ruling party in the build-up to the 2027 general election.
Their reaction follows the news that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally enrolled as a member of the ADC in Adamawa State, a move widely seen as a strategic repositioning within the opposition. His defection has fuelled speculation that he may emerge as the party’s presidential standard-bearer in 2027.
The group operating under the banner of BTO4PBAT, insisted that President Bola Tinubu remains firmly on course for a second term, regardless of Atiku’s new political alignment.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the group’s Director General, Adesuyi Adojutelegan, said the ADC lacked the capacity to threaten the APC’s dominance. He described Tinubu as a high-performing leader whose record would be difficult for any opposition candidate to match.
Adojutelegan, who earlier inaugurated ward and local government coordinators in Okitipupa, urged party members across Ondo South Senatorial District to strengthen their mobilisation efforts to ensure Tinubu’s re-election.
According to him, “The ADC cannot topple the APC. Even with Atiku joining them, President Tinubu is still the candidate to beat in 2027. There is practically no opposition strong enough to dislodge him.”
He argued that Tinubu’s administration has made visible progress in tackling insecurity and improving nationwide infrastructure, adding that the President’s interventions in several sectors demonstrate clear leadership. He cited policies such as the student loan initiative, which he said has expanded access to higher education for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Adojutelegan further described the ADC as a gathering point for disgruntled politicians attempting to play down Tinubu’s accomplishments. He insisted that the President’s performance over the past two years places him far ahead of any rival.
He also commended the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his support, urging the newly inaugurated coordinators to embark on vigorous grassroots campaigns that would highlight Tinubu’s achievements across the six local government areas of the senatorial district.
